School Supplies: Toms Holiday Styles

-I posted about Toms way back in the early days of Class Act and a couple times after,  and I actually just wore my pair for the first time in a long while the other day. In the last year Toms has really been expanding their range of styles and patterns. I really like these new boot-ish models they're making. I especially like that they kept the trademark wrapped toe and the addition of the leather heel patch is a nice touch. Good shoes for a good cause, probably going to grab the brown ones sometime soon.

School Supplies: Spring Items

-It's hard to get enthused about Spring style when it's snowy one day then 50 degrees and clear the next, but I'm starting to look around for things I need for the upcoming season. I wrote about my love of Toms Shoes way back when, and I still need to expand beyond my one black pair. The new spring styles are out now and the charitable company keeps putting out fresh takes on the minimalist design.
-Another thing that caught my eye is this versatile bag from Tretorn, it would be a nice upgrade to my stock black camera bag, though it's quite a ways out of my price range.
-Posting has been a little sparse lately, we apologize. I've been putting in 13 hour school days and Tim works every day in addition to school, but we've got some good shit coming including, hopefully, a lot more scene on the street shots when the weather gets a little warmer. Keep checking back.

PoliSci: Toms Get Political

-I first told you about Toms shoes, my favorite philanthropic shoe company, way back when we first started. I wish I would have seen these a bit sooner so I could of have rocked them with one of my Obama tees, but I just found out about them.

-The shoes, which come in a dual printed 'split decision' pair, are only available until Tuesday so get them now and they'll last you till the next election. Or you can show your party preference with one either the donkey or elephant print models.

Dress Code: A Common Goal

-I mentioned that we'd like to stray from streetwear/sneaker coverage a bit, and the announcement of the Common Projects Fall/Winter collection is a good opportunity to talk about something I've had in mind for awhile.
-I've known for a couple years now that it's about time I purchased a pair of adult shoes (i.e. expensive, sans a logo.) And I've been debating about what kind/how much to spend. I first heard about common projects a few years ago in GQ. Common Projects is a brand I could justify spending the money on (they average around $300) rather than opting for some Gucci of LV loafers. They produce both understated sneakers and a variety of other, more formal styles, and every pair is marked with a serial number denoting it's very limited production. The design team really understands the young male's battle of navigating youth and maturity via aesthetics. More photos and comments after the jump.

-Desert boots were everywhere this year but I like the take of doing them in a waxed black as opposed to the usual khaki.

-I want these (above)

-These are some Kurt Caywood boots.

Dress Code: Class Act Endorsements

-I like Toms shoes. Most of the buzz about them has to do with the fact that: for every pair you buy, Toms gives a pair of shoes to a child who needs them in South America or Africa. The charity aspect is obviously a plus, but I like them simply because they're the most comfortable shoes I own. The people at Toms understand the beauty of simplicity, canvas and rubber, that is all they are, and that is whats magnificent about them.

-I was unaware of the variety of styles Toms offered until I saw these (above) in a style.com piece about father's day gifts earlier today.

-The ones I own are like these (above) but in black. I bought them at Exit Real World on NW 23rd (Portland). I had seen them once before, on Chris Housen, but bought them only because I was in dire need of some black shoes. They were, and still are, fairly over priced ($40-$50) for what they are, but the charitable contribution makes up for the price. I pump Toms to everyone, they're one of my all time favorite purchases.

-The Web site has a ton of styles for both men (above) and women (below). You'll probably get some questions about why you're wearing karate shoes, but they really go well with a jean that has a narrow break.
