Required Reading: Rock Writers

-A few days ago, Gawker gave us an early look at aging rocker Nick Cave's new novel. Cave is apparently one of several musicians who have recently decided to write books, with Liz Phair and Class Act All Star Ryan Adams among the others.
-While we are too young to truly appreciate his work with the Bad Seeds, Cave has published several books and recently made an appearance in one of the best films of last year, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. In addition to appearing in the above scene, Cave penned the movie's stellar soundtrack.
-As for Ryan Adams, his new book Infinity Blues can be pre-ordered here, and we can all breathe easy because his blog is once again up and running.

Botany 101: Stoner Style

-While his Pineapple Express performance was overshadowed by that of newcomer Danny McBride, James Franco has been in the news lately for his role in a variety of bizarre scandals perpetuated by Gawker. First, he was sort of accused of raping a dude. Then, reports surfaced claiming that Franco stole the idea for his Pineapple Express shark tee from a shirt that had been previously sold at Urban Outfitters. Who knew stoners could be so hip?

Visual Communication: Word(le) Up

-The other day Gawker had a blurb about this site, Wordle, which turns text you copy and paste into a box into something they call a 'word cloud', with words that appear most often in the text appearing more prominent in the cloud. Gawker used it to examine how repetitive their page was, but we found a better use for the site, measuring the cliche-ness of your favorite emo songs!
