School Supplies: Snagged, DKNY Wingtips

-I've been looking for some darker cap toe oxfords for awhile, but yesterday these DKNY antiqued calfskin wingtip oxfords were on Gilt for only $68 so I couldn't pass them up. I've always been a bit opposed to wingtips, I don't really know why except that maybe they just seem a bit too ornate for me. But I really liked the color and subtle worn look of these, so they should hold me over until I can afford some more legit cap toes. more

School Supplies: Gilt Fuse

Many of us are long familiar with the exclusive members-only sample sale mecca that is Gilt Groupe. For the past two years founders Alexis and Alexandra have offered men, women, children and homes luxury goods at ridiculously pocket-friendly sale prices. Now the overwhelming success of Gilt has allowed A&A to further their stake on upscale e-commerce.

Enter Gilt Fuse, the original's twenty-something little sister you can find gracing a Mark Hunter party album or the pages of Nylon (forget thrift store couture, she's the one in the lamé top and Ksubi stovepipes). Barely a few weeks old, Gilt Fuse currently offers only womens apparel that falls under the category of undeniably hip, fierce and very, very bright. Since membership was extended only to existing Gilt members, you're still going to need a personal invite if you're an outsider but it's well worth the trouble. If you want in, leave us your e-mail addy and we'll send an invitation your way. Hurry though, the WeSC sale ends at 9 AM PST on Sunday the 24th and there are still plenty of those ultra-fly, bright pink Gullmaj nylon jackets to be scooped up for $44 instead of $121. Now that's unbeatable.

School Supplies: Bixby Purchases/Disappointment

-So, last week I posted my Gilt invitation link in hopes of earning a bit more credit in preparation for todays Benjamin Bixby sale. I got $25 credit and so things were going swimmingly until this morning when I awoke to a frightening thought. I was waking up at about 10 and I remembered that the sale was today and that Gilt sales start at noon. Then I had a realization, I'd never checked a sale right at noon before, and what if they start at noon Eastern time? I logged on, and indeed they do start at noon Eastern. And indeed the best item of the sale, a cashmere bow tie in two colors for only $38 (would have been $13 with my credit, before shipping) was sold out. Fuck. But I did buy this classic oxford for a a steal so my day isn't entirely ruined, next time I'll have to wake up at nine.

Dress Code: Gilty Pleasure

-I've refrained from doing what I'm about to do for a little while now. I'm posting my Gilt.com invite link. So click on it and sign up. The reason I'm doing this now? There is a Benjamin Bixby sale on Monday and I want the potential free invite money to help me buy something. But really this isn't a selfish post, because I'm offering you the readers an opportunity to get wicked deals on usually-legit stuff.
