Faculty: More Dope Clipse News

-Earlier this month we saw that there would probably be KAWS artwork on the new Clipse album cover, and today two more ill Clipse related items surfaced. First, Hypebeast had the new spring pieces from Clipse' clothing line Play Cloths and this cardigan was the first piece from the duo's clothing line that I've really been compelled to get. Secondly, our PNW friends over at h(y)r posted this picture of Pusha, Mal, and Rick Rubin, which would seem to indicate that Rick is doing a track or two on When the Casket Drops. If Rick could provide something like 99 Problems for Pusha-T and Malice the hip-hop world would forever be changed.

Criminology: Spit It Through 'The Wire'

-I discovered The Wire pretty late, so we are surely not the first people on the internet to call it one of the best shows of the decade. I think most viewers would agree that the show is as addictive as Barksdale's red tops.
-The Smoking Section recently ran down the list of Wire characters in an effort to find each one's rap alter ego. While I love the idea of Nas and Jay-Z as streetwise kingpin Avon Barksdale and his business partner Stringer Bell, I was dissappointed that they left Clipse off the list. It is a show about drugs, after all. more

-If you follow this blog at all then you're probably aware that we are huge Clipse fans. Listen to the verse at the beginning of this video, fuck. The KAWS reference, talking about the signature X's on the eyes. I don't even know what to say, it's just mindblowing. So, we already saw the Kanye x KAWS album art, and in this video Pusha seems to be assuring us that the album art on When the Casket Drops will be from KAWS, I can't wait.

-If you haven't been bumping the new Re-Up Gang mixtape Road to Till the Casket Drops, you should be. The mixtape is, as the name implies, as precursor to the next studio album, When the Casket Drops. Hell Hath No Fury was a little bit disappointing for the (disputed¹) best rap duo ever, but the mixtape is sick and I'm hopeful for the next full-length, especially is there's one guaranteed Swizz track. Dudes also just launched their long awaited clothing line Play Cloths. so check that out too.

Dress Code: Play Cloths

-Our favorite rap duo, The Clipse, has finally begun releasing news regarding their long-awaited clothing line, Play Cloths. The PC site has been under construction for months, so aside from a few video spots the line has been pretty much under wraps. However, the new Play Cloths blog has given us a closer look at Clipse's product (which, for once, isn't white powder). Malice and Pusha T know their fashion, so don't expect another Ecko, just a brand that Clipse describes as "all work, all play." PC's first collection is set to release in November. more

Music Theory: Re-Up

-I'll say that this video relates a tiny bit to the "Everybody Nose" remix video, but really I just posted it because I love The Clipse. Hands down, greatest hip-hop group ever. Lord Willin', my favorite hip-hop album of all time. The brilliance of Clipse is the ability to make entire albums about one subject (selling cocaine) continually interesting. So if you don't have it, get it, and check the Re-Up Gang mixtapes, and watch this video. Oh, and after the jump, some of my favorite Clipse coke-related lines (ones I can remember off the top of my head.)

That is some shitt." and "They call me pusha for one reason, cuz i keep that sniff all seasons, whether the price is up or down, i keep a mound to pitch from, you dont have to shop around." and "I'm livid, they act as I don;t live it, saran wrap vaseline, so they can't sniff it."Basically the entire song "Comedy Central," even Fabolous' verse is sick. "Yall talk with hatred but I live off that, but I lived off cocaine way before I lived off rap." And they fuckin YSL and Pucci references. That's nuts. Pucci, in a rap song, yeah. "I keep the streets so numb they call me novacaine, I turn over caine, over and over again." "Block so white June look like decemeber, snow everywhere, blow everywhere, so much dough I fly my hoes everywhere." "Pusha-T, push a ton, push a ton of that shit that make your nose run. Yes I'm holdin, whether it's heat or cocaine, in the door panel of my 4-wheel motion." K I'm getting bored, (oh yeah "I treat your nose to hook ya, and only pull back to cook ya") but the fucking line that got me into Clipse in the first place, from Cot Damn, "They just can't understand or phathom my demeanor, unapproachable appearance to how I pack the ninas, out of two Clipse they say malice the meanest, got love for guns and caine, let nothin come between us. You mistook me for a rapper huh? well that makes me an actor cuz i would rather clap a gun, and buck on them niggaz who hate, who want to be in my shoes, live my life, but can't carry my weight, I understand that the envy is part of the game but make no mistake, you and i, we are not the same. Naw bitch I'm liable to splatter your shit, light up your world till you start to stagger and shit, watch how them hollows straight rattle your shit, and I'll leave it to yall to freestyle and battle n shit. That's not me, I'm more at home with the chrome or at play with the yay, moving 12 for a zone."

Music Theory: Pharrel Nose No Boundaries

-I usually don't get this pumped but this is the sickest shit ever. Firstly, the video is by Hype Williams and it's characteristically bananas. It's 8-bit Nintendo themed so of course I love it. But more importantly, it's Yeezy, Pusha-T and Lupe on the same track. And it's about one of my favorite things in the world - bitches shovelin snow. The one weak thing about it is that the only version that seems to be on the web is this edited one. They edit out the word coke, wtf? Lupe's verse is the best, but check that Kanye "She stopped drinking diet Coke, she on that coke diet."
