-I've got a great classic Harris Tweed jacket that I love, but the cut is a bit more classic than something I want to rock everyday. To fulfill my tweed need I'm probably going to snag this Whitman herringbone sportcoat from J.Crew. It's thinner and shorter than my Harris so it should do well at dinner or just on campus with or without my trench.

Agreed...my only issue, as with most things from J. Crew that are not on sale, is that it is overpriced. For around $300 you chould step your game up and get a Billy Reid sportcoat on sale, but to each his own. From the picture on the website it looks like it has working button holes which would be boss. I've seen way more looks than usual with jacket sleeves rolled up, which I think looks great. Overall, I concur based on J. Crew's great fit and the apparent details of the jacket, but I would think you would want to save your monies for that Benjamin Bixby sale on Gilt this Friday..
The working button holes are indeed boss, and this jacket is sourced and made in the motherland so it's all good, plus J.Crew has an all-time 15% discount for college students.
Yeah man, I am one year removed from college but you bet your ass I flash that vintage college ID whenever I'm in store...
